Smart Home – Multi-room Audio

THE BRIEF

The client were real music lovers and wanted it to be available in every room in the house. They were a large family that all liked watching TV and often different channels/services. The client also wanted to create mood lighting in multiple areas the single press of a button.  They also requested fully automated, motorised window treatments as privacy was key. Security was also a main concern and they wanted to be notified if someone was on their property before they got to the front door, so we installed CCTV Cameras and WI-FI coverage throughout the home and outbuilding.

THE SOLUTION

The clients requested the technology should enhance and not interrupt the carefully curated design so we installed discreet in-ceiling speakers where the client wanted to entertain.  All the video sources where centralised in a rack and distributed to the rooms where they wanted to watch Sky, meaning no sky boxes in rooms just TVs. The Lutron lighting control system meant no need for banks of switches in rooms to control the lights and a smart heating and cooling system meant no thermostats just one single switch (which could also be controlled by a mobile app).

Motorised window treatments opened and closed a single press and perimeter protection meant they would receive a notification when someone was trespassing which would also trigger announcements from their in-ceiling speakers. A Control4 automation system unified all the technology together onto a single app/user interface and also ran an intercom system so they could open their gates even when they were not at home and had timed access so gardeners and cleaners could have their own codes to enter the property but only during times specified by the client. Full documentation of the prewire installation was also carried out by us so that every room was future-proofed to ensure no damage to the decor if this was changed at a later date.
